Calphalon Self Sharpening Knives Review

If you’ve ever gone to a kitchen shop, you’ve most certainly seen the Calphalon brand name. Calphalon produces a wide range of kitchen-related items, including cookware and bakeware, small kitchen gadgets, and, of course, kitchen knives and other cutlery. While they excel in the most of these categories, we’ll be concentrating on their kitchen knives in this study.
Calphalon stands behind its goods as a corporation. The majority of their product ranges, including kitchen knives, are covered by a lifetime guarantee. It guarantees them against faulty materials or workmanship during typical domestic usage and when properly cared for. At sarapliciouskitchen, we believe that this is the first step in guaranteeing that a firm produces high-quality items that will last the test of time. Why should we think they’ll endure if a corporation doesn’t back them up with a warranty?

Calphalon Katana Knife Set Review:
Calphalon’s Japanese-Inspired knife set (Katana Series) is a terrific way for home cooks to get some fine Asian blades at a low price. The Damascus steel design on the blades is stunning, and the incorporated bolster promotes perfect cutting technique.
Calphalon Knife Collections
Calphalon offers five distinct knife lines, which are generally offered as “sets” in a knife block. Most of their kitchen knives are forged rather than stamped, as you’d expect from a decent knife manufacturer, and have some form of bolster.
SharpIN technology is perhaps the most notable feature of Calphalon knives. They are built-in grooves on the knife block itself that are meant to sharpen the blade when the knife is drawn out. This guarantees that your new knives have a lovely, sharp blade every time you use them, making kitchen cutting duties a pleasure! Gone are the days when you had to guess when and how to sharpen your kitchen knives.
Calphalon Self-Sharpening Knives
These are the Calphalon knife lines with self-sharpening technology, as illustrated in the image and mentioned above. These are ideal for anybody who is unsure of when or how to sharpen their kitchen knives.

Precision Series
Our favorite knife set is the Calphalon Precision. In fact, we feel they are the greatest self-sharpening knife set available right now! They are completely forged knives made of high-carbon stainless German steel with hardened blades to HRC 56-58. Furthermore, the precision knives feature a complete bolster and are full-tang, which means the blade steel extends all the way to the handle’s end. The in-block knife sharpening is the cherry on top of this fantastic knife series.
Contemporary Series
In Calphalon Self-Sharpening Knives, Calphalon’s Contemporary Series knives, like the Precision knives, are completely forged and feature a full bolster. They employ high-carbon stainless German steel as well, however it is not as hard as the steel used in the Precision Series. This one is just HRC 54-56 hardened, but it is another full-tang design. The Contemporary knives are, of course, another Calphalon Sharpin knife set.
Classic Series
The Classic Series is more classic in appearance. In appearance, it resembles the Wusthof Ikon Series knives. It does employ high-carbon, stain-free steel, but it is not of the same grade or hardness as the steel used in the Wusthof knives or the other Calphalon blades mentioned above. There’s also nothing wrong with it being a forged, full-tang knife. This is a fantastic series for anyone looking for a well-known brand-name knife that is forged and full-tang but isn’t as expensive as some of the more knife-specific brands.
Select Series
The Calphalon Select Series knives are the collection’s outlier. They use a stamped blade, as opposed to the others, and the same lower-grade, softer no-stain steel as the Classic Series. Unlike other knives, they still sell this one as having a complete bolster and a full tang, so it has that going for it. This is our least favorite series, however some people enjoy the appearance, and the knives come in a very slender block shape that takes up very little counter top space.
Other Calphalon Knives
Calphalon Self-Sharpening Knives: The SharpIN technology with built-in blade sharpeners is included in most Calphalon Knife sets, but there is one particular series we wanted to mention: the Katana Series. All of the knives listed above are Western-style or German-inspired designs. That is not the case with the following series on our list from the Calphalon knife line. As you’ll see below, the Katana knives are completely Japanese-inspired.

Katana Series
The Katana Series has specially forged, full-tang blades with Damascus patterns created by layering steel over a forged steel core to form a stunning pattern on the blade. The core of this case is comprised of ultra-high carbon VG1 Japanese stainless steel. 32 layers of high-carbon, no-stain steel surround the core. This knife has an overall hardness rating of 59-60 (extremely hard).
Calphalon Knives Review Summary
Calphalon Self-Sharpening Knives:Calphalon is a well-known brand that manufactures a wide range of kitchen items, including bakeware, cookware, small appliances, and, yes, kitchen cutlery. Overall, their knives are well-made and made with better-than-average materials. Are these the greatest kitchen knives on the market? No, there are many more costly kitchen knife manufacturers that utilize more expensive materials, have a longer history, and some even handcraft all of their blades.
Having said that, Calphalon is a fantastic value-driven brand that does not compromise on procedure. Most low-cost, generic kitchen brand knives are stamped, thin, and poorly constructed. Not with these knives. They are forged, full-tang, and produced with good German or Japanese steel in certain circumstances. If you like the appearance and the price is perfect for your budget, you can’t go wrong with Calphalon knives.
